Facility Info

Meet / Facility Overview

The woodland community pool is the same location as last years championships.  It is a 19 lane pool which allows for two heats to be running at any one time.  The qualifiers will be swam in two 8 lane heats.  The even heats will be run at the north end of the facility while the odd heats will be run at the south end of the pool.

Relays and finals make up last segment of each day.  During this period, only one 10 lane heat is run.  The finals will be run at the South end of the pool - which is the deep end near the diving boards.

Each team is assigned a large area at the facility for the team and parents to sit together.

T-Shirts, Sweat Shirts, Tanks, etc will be available as well as swimming gear.

Course Layout

For Prelims:

The pool will be set up as two eight lane courses with three empty lanes splitting the course.  The ODD heats will be run at the north in of the pool and the EVEN heats will be run at the south end of the pool.  Each course will have its own Colorado timing system and scoreboard.  The starts for all 50 & 100 yard events will take off from the east side of the pool - which is the side closest to the street.  The starts for all 25's during prelims will take off from the west side of the pool (without blocks) so they end at the same side as the 50's and 100's.  The Colorado timing systems will be stationed at the North East end of the pool and the South East end of the pool.  Lanes numbers will start with lane one (1) being the closest lane to the Colorado and Official Starter.  The lane numbers will progress moving towards the middle of the pool.

For Finals:

Finals will be swam in the deep end of the pool, which is the south end of the pool.  The eight lanes used in prelims will have two additional lanes added (or simple used) at the far end towards the middle of the pool.  The starts for all 50 & 100 yard events will take off from the east side of the pool - which is the side closest to the street.  Woodland will provide blocks to be setup and taken down on east side for the 25 starts.  That way they will end at the same side as the 50's and 100's.

Parking

Auto Parking

Automobile parking is allowed in designated areas on the streets and in the High School parking lot which is directly south of the swimming pool.

RV Parking

RV Parking is permitted this year in the Football Stadium parking lot which is behind the school on the west side.  RV's should be parked as close to the football stadium as possible.  It is not possible to hear the announcer from the RV location so bear that in mind as you take your family there during the day.

Parent Responsibilities

To Do

Each parent is expected to sign up for at least two specific job functions to help run the meet.  That equates to four positions worked over the weekend per family.  This meet requires a lot of workers in all areas of running the meet.  Sign up in with your teams championship or league representative.

Available work times

Friday Evening - July 29th Set-up
Saturday All Day Running of meet (4 shifts)
Sunday 2/3 Day Running of meet (4 Shifts)
Sunday Late Afternoon Take Down

Jobs

Timers & Lane Writers, Stroke & Turn, Early Take Off, Computer/Printing, Ready Bench, Ribbons, Hospitality, Starters, Announcers, Runners, Timing System, Set Up (Friday Afternoon), Take Down (Sunday Afternoon), Registration Table, Warm-up Lane Monitors, Deck Patrol, T-Shirt & Program Sales

Helpful Hint

6 & Under only swim on Saturday.  So if you are a parent of a 6 & U, you want to make sure you schedule yourself for work that involves set up and the first day only.

Assignments Due Each team is to fill in their job slots in the parent volunteer spreadsheet and then submit that to Rio Del Oro's Championship Coordinator - which will be listed in the near future.

These spreadsheets are due by 5:00 pm Monday July 17th, 2006.

Eligibility

IV.             Entries and Eligibility         (Section 4 (IV) from Exhibit B of Bylaws)

A.           A League participant must swim in at least two events in at least two League dual meets during the regular season to qualify for participating in a championship meet. For purposes of complying with this requirement, it does not matter whether the swimmer swam in a relay or individual event, or whether the swimmer participated in a scored or non-scored heat of an event. For purposes of this Section IV.A., the term "League dual meet" is defined as any dual meet occurring on a Saturday between two teams as defined in Article 3 of these bylaws.  In addition to the foregoing requirement, a copy of a Northern California Swim League Application For Swimmer Registration and a copy of a birth certificate for each League participant must be submitted to the League Registrar by the League participant’s Team no later than July 1 of the then current regular season to qualify for participating in a championship meet.

B.           In order for a swimmer to enter an event, the swimmer must have a seeding time taken from either a League meet, a practice meet or a time trial conducted by a Team official or coach. The swimmer's best-recorded time in each event must be utilized for championship seeding purposes.  In simple terms, entries with "No Times" will not be allowed.

Entry Courtesy

League Officer's Entry Policy Statement

Due to the size of each of our conferences, and the limited time available on any given Championship weekend, each team is encouraged to enter swimmers in the events which they have a reasonable chance of completing a 'valid legal swim' with a 'valid time'.  If a swimmer is habitually DQ'ed on a particular stroke or event (such as the 100 IM), the league would encourage the coaching staff to use swim time in their own pool to work those issues out, and not view Championships as a place to work on those issues with the swimmer.  It has become apparent that many teams do not DQ swimmers who are not in the first heat during the summer dual meets.  This leads to 'valid times' for swimmers who really do not have 'valid legal swims'.

Team's entries are due to Jon Roberts of Glen Oaks by 5:00 pm Monday July 17th, 2006.  Jon Roberts is running the computer systems for the meet.
